Nodum Architecture
Nodum is designed on a two-layer architecture that separates data acquisition from its processing and distribution. This approach ensures scalability, robustness, and flexibility to adapt to any industrial environment.
Layer 1: EDGE
Section titled “Layer 1: EDGE”The EDGE layer is the digital backbone of your factory. It is installed directly on the plant floor, close to the machinery and production processes.
- Main function: Real-time data acquisition and connectivity.
- Key tasks:
- Connects directly to PLCs, sensors, and OT equipment via multiple protocols.
- Extracts significant variables continuously and efficiently.
- Performs local monitoring of device status.
Layer 2: ENTERPRISE
Section titled “Layer 2: ENTERPRISE”The ENTERPRISE layer is the central hub that consumes, unifies, and contextualizes the information coming from one or multiple EDGE devices.
- Main function: Data orchestration, contextualization, and distribution.
- Key tasks:
- Creates a Unified Namespace (UNS), unifying data from all sources.
- Transforms raw data into valuable information using tools like Node-RED.
- Acts as a central data hub, distributing standardized information to business systems (BI, ERP) and cloud platforms.
